LONGWOOD, Florida (March 1, 2020) - FIU softball closed out the weekend with a win over Western Michigan Sunday, as the Panthers concluded action in Longwood, Florida.
Sunday's 4-3 win over the Broncos comes on the heels of a split Saturday. The Panthers downed Albany 5-3 to close out Saturday.
Jocelyn Alonso hit a game-tying homer in the fifth inning of Sunday's game versus WMU before an
Alexis Johns double put the Panthers ahead for good at 4-3 in the sixth.
After her big weekend for the Panthers, Johns improved her team-leading average to .400 for the season.
FIU hit three of its five homers over the weekend, with Alonso, Johns and
Kallie Jones all going yard in Longwood.
Allison Muraskin earned all three of FIU's wins in the circle for the weekend while posting her fifth complete game of the year after her performance against WMU. The junior is now 5-2 overall, while owning a team-best ERA of 2.49.
UP NEXT
FIU hosts the Panther Invitational on March 5-7. The Panthers will welcome Tulsa, Ball State, Samford and Maryland to Miami.
