MIAMI (March 4, 2020) - The FIU women's tennis team returns home for a pair of matches this weekend, as the Panthers welcome Seton Hall and Charlotte to Miami. 

FIU will take on Seton Hall on Thursday, March 5 and Charlotte on Saturday, March 7. First serve for both matches will be at noon. 

The Panthers are currently 5-2 on the year, having won their last two matches. 

SCOUTING SETON HALL
The Pirates of Seton Hall have won their last two matches on the year, to earn a 3-8 mark entering the weekend. FIU has won both matches in the series, having defeated Seton Hall last season in New Jersey and in 2002 at home. The Panthers blanked the Pirates in both matches, winning 4-0 and 7-0 in the last two contests.

SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
Charlotte sits at 10-4 for the season, having downed No. 49 Appalachian State in its last match. The win for the 49ers was the first ranked victory in program history. FIU is undefeated all-time against Charlotte, having won its last three matches against the 49ers. The Panthers won 2019's meeting 4-1 against the 49ers in Miami.

WHAT RETURNS
FIU is led by junior Sandra Bozinovic and the sophomore duo of Kamila Umarova and Basak Akbas. The veteran group led the Panthers to an 11-8 record last season and were 4-1 overall in conference play. FIU built a nine-match win streak during the year, on its way to a quarterfinal appearance at the C-USA Championships.

WHAT'S NEW
The Panthers welcome a crop of four newcomers this season. Marina Alcaide, a junior transfer from VCU, along with three new freshmen, Ashley Vielma, Francisca Vergara and Kristina Miletic.
