MIAMI (April 16, 2020) – Next up for our Panther Q&A, we hear from Gina Lipscomb. The 2019-20 season marked the Yorba Linda, California native's first season in the Blue and Gold.

Lipscomb came to FIU following stints at Long Beach State and Citrus College. During the 2019 indoor season, the outside hitter recorded 10 double-doubles. For her first season in the sand, she went 8-0 on court three with partner Lina Bernier.

Q: What made you want to play volleyball?
A: "What made me want to play volleyball was because my older sister played volleyball. Then I started to get pretty good at it, so I just fell in love with the sport and how it wasn't a physical sport."

Q: When did you start playing?
A: "I started playing volleyball in 3rd grade. I was on a concrete volleyball team at my elementary school in California."

Q: What do you like about playing at FIU?
A: "I love all of my coaches and teammates, we have so many different cultures on our team and I think it is what makes us so unique. I also love the hard work and energy there is during every practice and my teammates never slack off, so it really helps you to stay motivated."

Q: How is it playing both beach and indoor volleyball? What are some challenges and what makes it fun to do both?
A: "Playing indoor and beach volleyball is definitely an overload. Though once you get the hang of time management and your schedule, it becomes really fun to represent your school's name in two sports. Not everyone can say they did that in college."

Q: What are your favorite on the court and off the court memories with your teammates?
A: "My favorite on the court memory was winning the North Florida tournament. My favorite off the court memory is grabbing and espresso shot/coffee with my teammate Jovana Vukcevic at Starbucks before every home game."

Q: Do you have any secret talents?
A: "I can play the harp and used to competitively show horses."

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
A: "I rub the scars on my legs before every game."

Q: What's your favorite thing to do off the court?
A: "I love hanging out with my friends, watching tennis matches and sleeping."

Q: What are your post-graduation plans?
A: "I plan on getting my masters, playing professional volleyball overseas, going to law school and working in the sport world."
