COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (April 8, 2020) - The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) selected its All-American teams for the 2019-20 season. FIU swimming and diving's Maha Gouda, Jasmine Nocentini and Mandy Song all earned recognition, as announced on Wednesday. 

"Despite the cancellation of the NCAA Championships, Coach Randy Horner did a remarkable job this season," explained Greg Earhart, Executive Director of the CSCAA. "These three student-athletes had the rug pulled out from them this season, so we are excited to recognize them."

With the recognition on Wednesday, Gouda becomes the first Panther in program history to earn multiple CSCAA All-American honors after claiming the distinction last season. The three selections in 2020 are the most-ever in program history and FIU becomes the first C-USA team since SMU in 2013 to have three-or-more All-American selections in a single season. 

The announcement comes less than week after all three student-athletes were recognized with C-USA superlatives. Gouda (Diver of the Year), Nocentini (Co-Swimmer of the Year and Freshman Swimmer of the Year) and Song (Freshman Diver of the Year). 

"It's not the way we wanted to end the season for these three ladies," Randy Horner said. "They qualified for the NCAA's but didn't get the chance to compete on the biggest stage.  This award gives something back and is a great honor despite the circumstances."

The honors by the CSCAA come on the heels of FIU's sixth-straight C-USA title as the Panthers broke the league record for most consecutive wins. The six-straight titles also rank as the most in a row by any athletic program in FIU history. The Panthers finished with an 8-3 mark overall in dual meets, while finishing second at the shortened National Invitational Championship in early March.
