Panther Q&A: Shane McGough

5/4/2020 11:21:00 AM

MIAMI (May 4, 2020) - Next up in our Q&A series with FIU football is offensive lineman, Shane McGough. The Tampa native played in all 13 games last season, starting 12 times for the Panthers.

McGough aided an offensive line that allowed just 14 sacks on the year, which tied for the fifth-lowest in the nation and first in C-USA. The 14 allowed sacks also ranked as the third-lowest in FIU history. McGough is now preparing for his final season at FIU, as he took time for a virtual Q&A with FIUSports.com.

Q: What was your most memorable moment from last season?
A: "The most memorable moment from last year was definitely the win over Miami."

Q: What are your thoughts on Coach Butch Davis?
A: "Coach Davis is the best coach I've ever played for. He cares for all his players in a way that's hard to explain. I wouldn't want to play for anyone else."

Q: Who is the hardest to block on the defensive line?
A: "We have a lot of talent on the defensive line, but I would say the hardest to block is Alexy Jean-Baptiste or Chris Whittaker. Those guys are just so athletic, so it's tough."

Q: What things are you better at than your brother, Alex McGough?
A: " I'm better at pretty much anything outdoors related, like fishing and hunting but he can beat me in video games or anything that involves throwing something or speed."

Q: Where is the best place to eat in Miami?
A: "El Toro Loco Churrascaria is the best place I've been."

Q: Who was your first pro jersey?
A: "My first pro jersey was a Peyton Manning Colts jersey."

Q: What shows on Netflix are you binging right now?
A: "Currently, I am binging Ozark."
