MIAMI (Sept. 15, 2020) – The NFL kicked off this past weekend with a number of new FIU football players comprising professional rosters. 

FIU currently has eight former Panthers in the NFL. Former standouts T.Y. Hilton and Jonnu Smith headline as FIU's top NFL representatives, the pair is joined by new arrivals James Morgan, Stantley Thomas-Oliver III and Teair Tart who began their pro careers this past offseason. 
 
T.Y. Hilton (FIU - 2009-11)
Week 2 Schedule: Vikings at Colts (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET)
Former Panther great T.Y. Hilton opened his ninth professional season with four catches for 53 yards as the Colts fell 27-20 to the Jaguars.

Johnathan Cyprien (FIU - 2009-12)
Week 2 Schedule: 49ers at Jets (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET)
Cyprien signed with the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers prior to the regular season. The safety was active, but did not record in any stats as the Niners dropped the season opener to the Cardinals by a score of 24-20.

Jonnu Smith (FIU - 2013-16)
Week 2 Schedule: Jaguars at Titans (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET)
Jonnu Smith jump started his fourth season in the NFL with four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown to help the Titans prevailed 16-14 over the Broncos on Monday Night Football.
 
Alex McGough (FIU - 2014-17)
Week 2 Schedule: Ravens at Texans (Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET)
After not making the final roster cut, the Houston Texans signed Alex McGough to the practice squad. The Texans fell to Kansas City Chiefs 34-20 on Opening Night.
 
Stantley Thomas-Oliver III (FIU - 2016-19)
Week 2 Schedule: Panthers at Buccaneers (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET)
Stantley Thomas-Oliver III, who was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, was inactive on Sunday as the Panthers were upended by the Oakland Raiders, 34-30.
 
James Morgan (FIU - 2018-19)
Week 2 Schedule: 49ers at Jets (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET)
James Morgan, who was selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, was inactive on Sunday. The New York Jets fell to the Buffalo Bills by a score of 27-17.

Teair Tart (FIU - 2018-19)
Week 2 Schedule: Jaguars at Titans (Sunday, 1:00 p.m. ET)
Teair Tart signed with the Tennessee Titans following the 2020 NFL Draft, earning a spot on the practice squad. The Titans prevailed 16-14 over the Broncos on Monday Night Football.
