MIAMI (Jan. 26, 2021) – The FIU divers are ready to hit the water tomorrow against FAU, when the Panthers host the Owls on Wednesday, Jan. 27, in Coral Springs, Florida.
The diving contest, which marks the first of two home meetings between FIU and FAU this week, begins at 10:35 a.m. ET from the Coral Springs Aquatics Center. The Panther swimmers then welcome the Owls to the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center on Saturday, Jan. 30, for the second portion of their dual meet. The total score from Wednesday's diving events will be added to the overall score of Saturday's swimming events between FIU and FAU.
FAU PREVIEW
The Owls have yet to compete in 2020-21, with the meet against FIU marking FAU's first event of the season. Last season FAU finished 3-3 in dual meets, with the Panthers besting the Owls by a score of 175-103 at the Biscayne Bay Aquatics Center on Feb. 1, 2020. The Panther divers will see the Owls a second time during the current regular season, when FIU hosts the South Florida Diving Invitational on Monday, Feb. 8.
INSIDE THE SERIES
FIU has beaten the Owls in 10 consecutive dual meets dating back to Oct. 5, 2013. Since joining Conference USA in 2013, the FIU women's swimming and diving team holds a perfect 10-0 record against its rival from Boca Raton, Florida.
UP NEXT
FIU caps its dual meet against FAU this Saturday, Jan. 30, when the swimmers break out beginning at 11 a.m. ET from the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center. The Panthers will receive last season's Conference-USA Championship rings during a ceremony before the meet, honoring the group for its incredible accomplishment in the 2019-20 campaign.
