MURFREESBORO, Tennessee (Jan. 9, 2021) — The FIU men's basketball team took on Middle Tennessee in a Conference USA clash at the Murphy Center on Saturday. The Panthers fell to the Blue Raiders 67-56 to close out the weekend series.
The Panthers moved to 8-4 and 2-2 with the loss, while Middle Tennessee went to 3-5 overall and 1-1 against C-USA teams with the win.
The FIU squad struggled in the opening half, allowing MT to go 54.5% from the floor while also turning the ball over 12 times during the period. Antonio Daye, Jr. posted a squad-best eight points, with the team shooting 37.9% from the floor, but FIU trailed Middle Tennessee 42-28 at the break.
Coming out of the locker room, FIU went 11-28 from the floor but just 1-9 from three. The team outscored the Blue Raiders 28-25, and Daye, Jr. notched 12 points in the half, but it was not enough as the Panthers fell 67-56
Overall, FIU shot 38.6% from the field and 18.2% from beyond the arc in the loss. Daye, Jr. led the team with 20 points, while Radshad Davis logged 11 points and Tevin Brewer tallied 10. Additionally, Davis recorded nine rebounds while Dimon Carrigan posted eight rebounds and a pair of blocks.

The Panthers return to the Sunshine State to take on Florida Atlantic on Thursday, Jan. 14. Tipoff from the Ocean Bank Convocation Center is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
