MIAMI (Oct. 13, 2021) - The FIU men's soccer team is ranked No. 14 in the Rating Percentage Index (RPI). The Panthers climbed to No. 14 in the latest release which includes games through Oct. 10.

The Blue & Gold are in the midst of a fantastic 2021 campaign that has seen the Panthers earn country-wide recognition throughout the college soccer landscape. Along with the achievement in the RPI rankings, FIU has also been ranked for six straight weeks in the USC Top-25 national poll.

After earning a Top-30 recruiting class from TopDrawerSoccer.com (TDS) before the season started, FIU has seen three of its freshmen grace the TDS Men's Freshmen Top-100. Bernardo Dos Santos Monteiro (No. 23), Julian Hodek (No. 69), and Edgar Aguilar (No. 76) all appeared in the recent release.

The Panthers own a 7-1-2 record on the season, including an undefeated 2-0-1 record in C-USA play. The sold-out environment at FIU Stadium has propelled the Panthers to a perfect 4-0 record at home, with the next home match scheduled for Oct. 19 versus Coastal Carolina at 7 p.m. ET.

FIU ranks top in the nation in multiple statistical categories, including No. 4 nationally in shots-per-game (17.70) and No. 7 in the country in shutout percentage (.600). The Blue & Gold also ranks No. 17 nationally in win percentage (.800) and No. 22 in scoring offense (2.30 goals-per-game).
 
The Panthers lead all C-USA teams in shot attempts (177), while rankings second in points-per-game (6.70) and goals-per-game. FIU also ranks second in goals scored (23) and goals-against-average (.60).

Nine different Panthers have scored this season in what has been a truly balanced attack, with Bernardo Dos Santos Monteiro (5), Stephen Afrifa (5), David Garcia (3), Kareem Riley (3), and Talla Faye (2) leading the way. FIU has seen a defender score in seven of its 10 contests this season, with Garcia, Riley, and Philip Hildebrandt (1) all contributing goals.

FIU is back on the road this weekend, when the Panthers travel to face South Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 16. Game time against the Gamecocks is set for an early morning start at 10:30 a.m. ET.
