MIAMI (Aug. 5, 2021) - The FIU men's soccer team has the 30th-ranked recruiting class in the nation for 2021, according to a poll by TopDrawerSoccer.com (TDS).
The latest release by TDS ranks FIU's signing class as best in Conference USA and top in the state of Florida. No other C-USA or Florida programs graced the TDS poll. Head Coach
Kyle Russell and his staff have now secured a top-30 class in each of their first two seasons with the Blue & Gold.
FIU's 2021 class features 15 newcomers, including eight transfers and seven freshmen. Among the signees are four forwards (Eden Agami, Maccabi Tel Aviv;
Alexander Lozano, Inter Miami CF Academy;
Sander Jonassen Foro, UII/Kisa; and
Bernardo Dos Santos Monteiro, Almere FC), seven midfielders (
Julian Hodek, BFC Dynamo;
Matteo Gasperoni, Atalanta;
Jose Lapentty, Deportiva Saprissa;
Yushi Nagao, Marshalltown Community College;
Cesar Cuellar, Fort Lauderdale CF;
Josh Burnett, UConn; and
Matthias Lavenant, Stade Brestois Academy), and four defenders (
Carlos Scheckermann, Central Methodist;
Juan Pablo Leano, Tecos FC;
Edgar Aguilar, Pachuca FC; and
Noriyuki Ito, Jacksonville College).
