MIAMI (OCT. 27, 2021) – The FIU women's soccer team closes out the 2021 season at home against the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters on Thursday, Oct. 28. Opening kick begins at 7 p.m. ET at FIU Soccer Stadium.

The Panthers enter the match after defeating the number one team in Conference USA, Old Dominion, 1-0 on the road. The Blue & Gold kept the Monarchs out of the net, handing ODU their first loss during league play and giving FIU its first in conference. LA Tech comes to Miami after falling in the last match 2-1 against North Texas. Both teams post a conference record of 1-4-2.
SCOUTING THE LADY TECHSTERS
On the season, La Tech is averaging the third-most goals per match in conference with 1.87. The Lady Techsters have six players that tallied at least three goals this season, with Josie Studer leading the team with four. Libe Banuelos has registered 61 saves overall and ranks her third in the conference for saves per match during league play (4.69).
FIU BY THE NUMBERS
After the strong defensive performance against Old Dominion, FIU had two athletes named to C-USA Players of the Week:
Idelys Vazquez (Defender) and
Ithaisa Vinoly (Goalkeeper). Vazquez tallied the full 90 minutes against ODU and was a major piece for the FIU backline. Vinoly held the Monarchs scoreless in the FIU victory, earning her third clean-sheet on the season.
Noemi Paquin has scored five goals on the season which ranks her third all-time for most goals by an FIU freshman. Paquin has also tallied four of her goals during league play, sitting her tied for first in the conference.
Vazquez,
Camille Sahirul, and
Deborah Bien-Aime are the three leaders in minutes on the pitch during FIU's conference play, posting 695, 694, and 687, respectfully.
