CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA (October 30, 2021) - The FIU cross country program competed at the 2021 Conference USA Championships, with the women earning a seventh place finish and the men placing 10th.
For the women, it was the highest finish since a sixth place performance in 2018. The Panthers finished with 205 points, just eight point behind Marshall for sixth.

"I was proud of our performances today," said head distance coach
Jermaine Felix. "To have so many of our runners finish with personal bests is a great testament to how hard they've been working."
In her first race since the outdoor track and field championships, senior
Emilie Christiansen returned to the course with a strong performance for the Panthers, leading the squad with a 22:03 in the 6K to place 22nd.
Andrea Loizidou continued her strong 2021 campaign running 22:46, a 6K personal best.
Daira Deicmane's 22:51, Leonards Farkas' 22:56, and
Lisa Adjouadi's 23:49 were all personal bests as well, guiding FIU to their seventh place mark.
Delilah Ayan and
Katelyn Ziarnicki also competed for FIU.
The men earned a victory over FAU, led by
Eliseo Torres who finished the 8K in 26:47. Freshman
Chris Ivonnet followed close behind in 27:04.
Roger Reyes,
Jonathan Pineda,
Andoni Mercado,
Alejandro Garcia, and Christoipher Gomez-Somarriba also competed for the Panthers.
The Panthers now prepare for the NCAA South Regionals, to be held November 12 in Huntsville, AL.
