Box Score CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Nov. 12, 2021) - The No. 13 ranked FIU men's soccer team came up short in the Conference USA Semifinals against one of the best defensive teams in the country on Friday afternoon as the Panthers fell to No. 10 ranked Kentucky by a score of 3-1.

The Panthers record now stands at 12-3-2 on the season, while Kentucky is 13-1-4.   

The Blue & Gold battled the Wildcats to a scoreless draw through the first 45 minutes of the contest, with FIU firing off one shot on-goal in the period while holding Kentucky to zero. The Panthers and Wildcats each traded two shot attempts apiece in a very defensive and physical opening half.

Despite the stout defensive play from FIU, Kentucky was able to hop on the board in the 54th minute after a counterattack score from the Wildcats. The contest slipped out of reach for FIU when the Panthers were forced to play with only ten men due to a red card issued in the 69th minute, as the Wildcats tacked on another two goals in the remaining run of play.

UP NEXT
The Panthers will now turn their attention to the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament bracket selection show, which is set to air live on Monday afternoon, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. ET.

FIU will be hosting a watch party for the event on Monday from Noon to 2 p.m. at the GC Pit in the Graham Center. The men's soccer team will be in attendance, with appearances from the FIU band, the Dazzlers, Roary, and more.
