MIAMI (Nov. 4, 2021) – The FIU indoor volleyball team looks to extend its winning streak when the team travels to Marshall for the final Conference USA series this season. The Panthers take on the Thundering Herd Nov. 5-6 at the Cam Henderson Center. The first contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET while the second match is slated for 2 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
FIU took the series from Charlotte, sweeping the 49ers before winning a five-set thriller on Senior Day. The Blue and Gold averaged 13.75 kill/set and hit .234 for the weekend.
Giada Bianchi led the charge for the Panthers, posting 36 kills and a 4.5 kills/set average. The Monza, Italy native was named C-USA Freshman of the Week following her efforts.
BY THE NUMBERS
FIU enters the weekend riding a five-match winning streak. The team posts a 8-11 overall record while going 5-5 against league opponents. As a team, the Panthers rank first in the league in blocks/set 2.63 and fourth for opponent hitting percentage (.198). In conference only games, the Panthers are first in blocks/set (3.04), third in opponent hitting percentage (.188) and fourth in aces/set (1.04).
Individually, Bianchi ranks second in Conference USA in aces/set (0.50), sixth for points/set (4.55) and eighth for kills/set (3.68). Defesively,
Myrthe Maring's 1.17 blocks/set is good for fourth place while
Valeria Santos' 4.57 digs/set puts the senior third in the league.
WRANGLING THE HERD
Marshall enters the weekend with an 8-15 overall record and a 4-6 mark against Conference USA opponents.The Herd average 11.7 kills/set while hitting .205 for the season. Defensively, MU posts 15.2 digs/set and 2.5 blocks/set.
Destiny Leon comes into the series 10th in C-USA hitting .316 for the season. The middle blocker is also third in the league with a 1.2 blocks/set average. Marshall's libero Sarah Schank posts 4.28 digs/set which places the senior fourth in the Conference
