HUNTINGTON, W.VA. (Nov. 6, 2021) - The FIU indoor volleyball team took down Marshall at the Cam Henderson Center on Senior Day when the Blue and Gold defeated the Thundering Herd 3-1. The score stood at 25-19, 13-25, 25-22, 25-22 in favor of the Panthers.
The match marked the regular-season finale for both teams. FIU improved to 9-12 overall and 6-6 against Conference USA opponents. Marshall dropped to 9-16 this season and 5-7 in league play.
As a team, FIU posted 48 kills while hitting .101 for the match. The team tallied 68 digs, 43 assists, 11 blocks and six service aces during the victory.
Giada Bianchi led the way with a double-double, posting 16 kills and 15 digs. Coming off the bench,
Emily Meyer recorded 10 kills while hitting .304 during the match. Defensively,
Valeria Santos logged 22 digs, and
Myrthe Maring earned seven blocks during the match.
The conference tournament is set for Nov. 19-21 in Norfolk, Va. and is hosted by Old Dominion.
