MIAMI (Dec. 16, 2021) – FIU women's golf head coach Joe Vogel officially announced the newest members of the Panther golf family on Thursday.
The 2022 signing class will consist of Casey Yu from San Diego, California, and Kelly Shanahan from Coral Springs, Florida.
"We are excited to announce the signing of Casey Yu and Kelly Shanahan for the class of 2022," Vogel said. "Both Casey and Kelly will bring great experience to our team next year.
Casey Yu (San Diego, California)
Yu comes to FIU as a member of the Taiwanese National Golf Team and has competed in numerous junior events in a plethora of countries. The future Panther linkster is currently enrolled at Rancho Bernardo High School, where Yu is a 4.0 student and a member of the National Honor Society and has scored in the top seven percentile of the SAT. Yu is also fluent in three different languages while being the captain of the RBHS golf team.
Kelly Shanahan (Coral Springs, Florida)
Shanahan arrives in Miami after a decorated prep career at American Heritage High School. Shanahan was named the USA Today Florida National Female Golfer of the Year while helping American Heritage engineer a fourth-straight Florida State title. In 2020, Shanahan won the individual Florida State title. Shanahan also brings numerous awards from the junior circuit to 8th street while being an A student in the classroom.
"Both of these players bring very strong character and hard work ethic," Vogel said. "We are honored to have them join our team next year and look forward to helping them reach their desired educational and athletic goals."

FIU is off until the spring, with the Panthers' next tournament coming on Feb. 7-8 for the FAU Paradise Invitational.
