MIAMI (Feb. 11, 2021) – After opening their season with a victory against Jacksonville at home, the FIU women's soccer team is hitting the road this weekend to face North Florida on Friday, Feb. 12, before playing a rematch against JU on Sunday, Feb. 14.

The Panthers and Ospreys are set to face off at 4 p.m. ET on Friday, with Sunday's contest against the Dolphins scheduled for 10 a.m. ET.

UNF PREVIEW
UNF owns a 1-0 record on the young season, after the Ospreys defeated JU in their season opener by a score of 4-0 on Feb. 3. The Ospreys are led by the ASUN Preseason Player of the Year and All-Decade Team member Thais Reiss. Reiss notched two scores in the opener against JU and was named ASUN Player of the Week after the performance. The senior led the team in points (30), goals (12), assists (6), and netted five game-winners in 2019.

JU PREVIEW
The Dolphins hold a 0-2 record this season after taking another shutout loss at the hands of the Blue & Gold in Miami. JU was led last season in points and goals by 2019 A-SUN All-Freshman Team honoree Olivia Abdallah. FIU is looking to win its fourth-consecutive match against Jacksonville on Sunday, while the Dolphins attempt to earn their first win over FIU since Sept. 20, 2013.

WEEKLY HONORS
Sophomore Sarah Ward and junior-transfer Estefania Cardona were named Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week and Defender of the Week, respectively, after both Panthers helped FIU post a clean-sheet victory (2-0) against the Dolphins. Cardona logged a full 90 minutes in the Panther backline and helped limit the Dolphins to only three shots on-goal, while Ward recorded three saves on nine shots-faced en route to her first career shutout.

PANTHER ATTACK
The Panthers are led in points by junior forward Kédie Johnson, who recorded the game-winning goal and dished an assist against JU. Freshman midfielder Sophia Vilar notched the first goal of her FIU career after sinking a header to put the Panthers up by a 2-0 score in the match. Sophomore Carmen Marin has displayed play-making abilities in the midfield for FIU, recording an assist in the opener and leading the team with three shots attempts.
