Panthers Post Lifetime Bests at Miami

Rielly McNamara, Angelina Roque, and Ryan Flynn conquer time trial meet

CORAL GABLES, Florida (Feb. 13, 2021) -  Rielly McNamaraAngelina Roque, and Ryan Flynn of the FIU women's swimming team all posted personal-best times on Saturday, Feb. 13, as the Panther swimmers competed at the First Chance Meet against the Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables.

"I'm very happy for Rielly, Nina, and Ryan," said Head Coach Randy Horner. "They came in and raced hard. It's nice as a coach to see it come together for them because they all work so hard."

The competition at Miami was a non-scored time trial meet that featured six Panther swimmers in five events, with the day serving as the final tuneup for FIU before the Conference USA Championships on Feb. 25-27.

Roque posted personal-bests in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly, with marks of 58.62 and 58.44, respectively.
 
McNamara recorded marks of 59.27 in the 100 backstroke and 57.66 in the 100 butterfly.

Flynn recorded a lifetime-best mark of 1:53.95 in the 200 freestyle.
 
UP NEXT
FIU is set to face its ultimate challenge in 2021, as the Blue & Gold go for a seventh-consecutive Conference USA Championship at the month's end. The league tournament begins on Thursday, Feb. 25, and concludes on Saturday, Feb. 27.
