MIAMI (March 12, 2021) - The FIU women's tennis team swept visiting Florida A&M on Friday afternoon as the Panthers blanked the Rattlers 7-0.
The win on Friday gives the program its first 4-0 start to open a season since 2007.

FIU dominated from start to finish on Friday, as the Panthers strut out to a 1-0 advantage following doubles action. In singles play, the Panthers earned five sets with no surrendered games as FIU breezed through FAMU for the 7-0 victory.
Marina Alcaide and
Andreea Velcea each improved to 4-0 in singles play, as Alcaide won her court following her opponent retiring due to injury and Velcea dominating her foe without surrendering a game, 6-0, 6-0.
Kamila Umarova stayed unbeaten as well in singles action, as she earned a 6-4, 6-1 decision to improve to 3-0 on the year. Rounding out the singles lineup,
Basak Akbas and
Kristina Miletic each earned straight-set wins to improve to 3-1.
