Nocentini, Gouda Close Out Second Day at NCAAs

Panther pair competed in two events on Friday

GREENSBORO, North Carolina (March 19, 2021) - The Panther pair of Jasmine Nocentini and Maha Gouda closed out their second day of competition at the 2021 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Friday afternoon. 

Nocentini swam in the 200 freestyle, while Gouda competed in the 3-meter event. Both Panthers are back in action on Saturday for the final day of competition at the NCAA Championships. All events will be aired on ESPN3 and results can be found here

Nocentini finished the 200 freestyle 32nd overall, with a time of 1:46.92. The sophomore finished the 50 freestyle 28th overall on Thursday in her first event on the weekend. The Padova, Italy, native will swim in one more event at the NCAA Championships, with Nocentini set to race in the 100 freestyle on Saturday. Prelims will get underway at 10 a.m., with finals set for 6 p.m. 

Gouda competed in her first NCAA Championships since earning All-American honors as a freshman in 2019. The Panther finished 31st overall in the 3-meter event, with a score of 269.40. Gouda will also be in action on Saturday, as the Alexandria, Egypt, native will dive in the platform event, which she placed eighth in at the championships in 2019. Prelims are set for 12:30 p.m., with finals set for 6 p.m. 

The top eight places (1-8) in each preliminary will advance to the evening's finals and earn NCAA All-American honors. The next eight places (9-16) will compete in the 'B' final and will be awarded NCAA All-American honorable mention status.
