MURFREESBORO, Tennessee (March 21, 2021) - The FIU women's tennis team took down Middle Tennessee 5-2 on the road Sunday, as the Panthers stayed undefeated.
With the victory, FIU improves to 7-0 on the year and 2-0 in conference play. The win on Sunday gives the program its first 7-0 start since 1994.

The Panthers pounced on the Blue Raiders right away Sunday, as FIU took the doubles point following wins on courts one and three. The 59th-ranked pair of
Kamila Umarova and
Basak Akbas won easily 6-1, while
Andjela Skrobonja and
Andreea Velcea earned a tiebreaker victory for the doubles point.
In singles play, Velcea and Akbas won in straight-sets before Umarova officially clinched the match with her 6-3, 6-1 win.
Marina Alcaide won soon after on court three in straight-sets as well, as the Panthers went on to earn the 5-2 victory over the Blue Raiders.
Alcaide and Velcea are both 7-0 now in singles play, while Umarova also stays unbeaten at 6-0.
UP NEXT
FIU will be idle until Friday, April 2, as the Panthers host the Rice Owls at Noon.
