MIAMI (March 22, 2021) - Sydney Amparo scored a hat trick on Monday night, as the FIU women's soccer team defeated Marshall 3-1 for the program's first-ever win over the Thundering Herd. 

The 3-1 win also marked FIU's first conference victory since 2016. 

Amparo began the night by scoring in the 20th and 23rd minutes of the contest, after assists from Laura Chavez and Kédie Johnson. 

Following a Herd goal in the 67th minute to narrow the gap, Amparo struck again in the 84th minute to put the match away for good and cap the sophomore's first-career hat trick. 

Prior to Monday's match, Amparo had never scored a goal collegiately. 

Between the posts, Kiera Gibson allowed just one score and earned three saves for her first win of the year.
