BOCA RATON, Florida (April 1, 2021) - The FIU softball team split its doubleheader at FAU on Thursday, setting up series-deciding game between the Panthers and Owls on Friday.
FIU blanked FAU 8-0 to run-rule the Owls in five innings in game one, before falling 7-3 in the second game. First pitch for Friday's deciding game is set for 6 p.m.
Jessica Rivera homered in the first inning of game one to get the scoring started, before the Panthers scored six more runs in the final three innings. Rivera has now homered four times in the last 10 games.
Gaby Ruiz earned three hits on the day, while driving in a pair of runs.
Brooklynn Linneman pitched five innings, struck out four and allowed just two hits in game one for her first complete-game shutout of her young career.
UP NEXT
After Friday's game at FAU, the Panthers travel to Charlotte on April 16-18 for a four-game series.
