BOCA RATON, Florida (April 2, 2021) - The FIU softball team defeated FAU 7-4 on Friday afternoon as the Panthers secured the series win over the Owls.
FIU split Thursday's doubleheader to set up the series win on Friday. FIU led 4-1 through four innings, before the two teams traded three runs each in the final frame to cap the scoring at 7-4.
Kayla Whitehead led the Panthers with three hits and two RBI on Friday, while blasting her first homer of the season.
Jessica Rivera continued her hot streak at the plate, with the senior hitting her fourth homer in the last 11 games.
Bailey Grossenbacher earned two hits on Friday as well, with her first career triple coming against the Owls.Â

Brooklynn Linneman pitched a complete game as the freshman earned her second win of the series.Â

The Panthers will travel to Charlotte on April 16-18 for a four-game series.Â
