Panthers Fall at Charlotte

FIU dropped the series opener with the 49ers

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (April 16, 2021) – FIU softball dropped a 3-2 decision to Charlotte on Friday, as the Panthers and 49ers opened the weekend series. 

Bailey Grossenbacher led the Panthers with a pair of hits and an RBI on the night, while Jessica Rivera added the other RBI for FIU on Friday. 

FIU rallied in the seventh, with a double and single to put runners on the corners with no outs. Grossenbacher drove in a run with a single to cut the deficit to 3-2, but the Panthers couldn't overcome the 49ers as Charlotte took the win.

In the circle, Brooklynn Linneman pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs. 

UP NEXT
The Panthers are back in action on Saturday, as FIU takes on Charlotte in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
