JACKSONVILLE (May 25, 2021) - The FIU track and field team is set to compete at the NCAA East Preliminaries, hosted by the University of North Florida at Hodges Stadium on May 26-29. 

Queshun Riggins, Filippa Miller, Desmond Dorceus, and Rhema Otabor will represent the Panthers, as each hopes to finish in the top 12 and qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Riggins enters the meet ranked 11th in the long jump after his school-record performance at the Conference USA Championships of 7.82m, earning him gold in that event, as well as the triple jump. 

Otabor comes in with the 10th-best mark in the javelin, having set a school record earlier this year with a throw of 54.19m. 

Miller's school record pole vault mark of 4.00m earned her a spot at regionals, while Desmond Dorceus' school-best throw in the discus has him seeded 31st. 

FIU is hoping to return once again to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, after Clarissa Cutliff and Gabrielle Rains represented the Panthers in 2019.
