FIU Heads to Central Michigan on Saturday

Panther face Chippewas during the team's final non-conference clash

MIAMI (September 22, 2021) – The FIU football team hits the road for its final non-conference clash as the Panthers meet the Chippewas of Central Michigan on Saturday, September 25. Kickoff is slated for noon ET.

Saturday's interconference matchup can be streamed on ESPN+. "Voice of the Panthers" AJ Ricketts can be heard on the Panthers' new radio home Univision's WQBA 1140 AM.

LAST TIME OUT
FIU fell 54-21 to Texas Tech last Saturday in Lubbock, Texas. One of the bright spots of the game was when Max Bortenschlager found EJ Wilson Jr. down the sideline for a 69-yard touchdown that tied the game at 14-14 in the early going of the second quarter. The chunk play was the longest play of the season for the quarterback

SCOUTING THE CHIPPEWAS
Central Michigan enters the game at 1-2 on the season and 1-0 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Both of the Chippewas' loses on the season have come against SEC opponents including a 49-21 loss at LSU last weekend. As a team, CMU averages 30.0 points per game and the Chippewa defense allows 27.7 points per outing.

Against the Tigers, quarterback Jacob Sirmon went 17-24 for 156 yards. The sophomore logged one touchdown and one interception. Running back Myles Bailey recorded seven carries for 29 yards. Leading CMU in tackles was Gage Kreski, who logged six for the game.
