MIAMI (Sep. 8, 2021) – The FIU women's soccer team will make the short trip to face a crosstown foe this Thursday, Sept. 9, when the Panthers battle the Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables.

Opening kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Cobb Stadium.

The match will be broadcasted on ACC Network Extra. Live stats can be found here.

FIU played admirably in its last contest (Sept. 5) against a tough Murray State squad that finished the 2021 spring season ranked 36th in rating percentage index. The Panthers came up short by a score of 1-2 against the Racers despite out-shooting Murray State 19-11, and firing 11 shots-on-goal to the Racers' five.

Miami is entering the match against FIU with a 2-2 record. The Hurricanes' last two matchups were both overtime affairs, including a win over Florida (1-0) and a loss to Missouri (0-1). Miami has played in tight low-scoring competitions this season and has not recorded more than a goal in any contest. The Hurricanes have notched a total of two scores this year and were shut out in games against Lipscomb (2-0, Aug. 26) and Missouri (Sept. 2).

ALL-TIME SERIES
FIU trails the all-time series against Miami by a record of 1-7, with the Hurricanes winning the recent three contests. Last time FIU and Miami met was during the 2021 spring season, when the Blue & Gold fell by a score of 0-4. FIU's lone victory came in the 2016 season when the Panthers calmed the Hurricanes with a 1-0 win in Coral Gables.

SCOUTING THE HURRICANES
Miami is led offensively this season by forward Katarina Molina, who has scored one goal and leads the squad with five shots-on-goal. Goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais has tallied 15 saves through the early portion of the season.
