BOCA RATON, Fla (September 30, 2022) -
Eliseo Torres earned the victory at the FAU XC Invite at South County Regional Park Friday evening, highlighting an impressive outing for the Panthers, who placed second on the men's side, and third on the women's.
"Eli ran a great race, and has been training really well," said head distance coach
Jermaine Felix. "He was deserving of a victory, and I'm excited to continue to see his progress from here."
RESULTS
Torres ran 22:48 on the 7K course, an average of 5:14 per mile. Junior
Jonathan Pineda followed closely behind with a fourth place finish in 23:55, while
Andoni Mercado,
Dennis Moreno, and
Disner Moreno rounded out the top five for FIU.
On the women's side, the Panthers were led by
Lisa Adjouadi, who finished the 5K course in 18:53, with
Daira Deicmane seconds behind her in 18:56.
Delilah Ayan,
Hannah Buchanan, and
Leonarda Farkas made up the rest of the top five, with a gap of just 43 seconds.
"The women ran close together, and I was proud of their third place finish," said Felix. "As we continue to get back to full strength, I'm looking forward to the times we can continue to run."
FIU will next be in action on October 14, with the women competing at the Alabama Crimson Classic and the men at the USF Invite.
