TUSACLOOSA, Ala. (October 14, 2022) - The FIU cross country programs saw successful performances Friday in the final regular season meet before the upcoming Conference USA Championships.
In Tuscaloosa, the FIU women competed in the Alabama Crimson Classic, finishing in 13th. The course, which was officially tallied as a 5.85K, saw
Andrea Loizidou lead the FIU women with a 21:08 to earn an 18th place finish.
Lisa Adjouadi,
Daira Deicmane,
Delilah Ayan, and freshman
Capucine Rolin were the four other scorers for FIU.
In Tampa, the men competed in the USF Cross Country Invite, with
Eliseo Torres leading the way with a seventh place finish overall, and fourth among Division-I runners.
Jonathan Pineda,
Andoni Mercado,
Dennis Moreno, and
Disner Moreno rounded out the scoring for FIU, who earned a seventh place finish of the seventeen scoring teams.
"This was a solid way to conclude our regular season," said head distance coach
Jermaine Felix. "We saw a number of impressive performancances, so we should feel confident heading into conference. We're looking forward to that challenge."
The Conference USA Championships will take place Saturday, October 29 in Denton, Texas.
