Â
The Panthers travel to Boca Raton, Fla., on Wednesday for what is a must-win scenario to keep their hopes alive in securing a top-eight spot in next week's Conference USA Tournament in Charlotte, N.C.
Â
FIU needs to win out its last two matches to stay alive, also barring a Charlotte loss to Western Kentucky on Friday (Oct. 28), as the Panthers currently sit in 10
th with four points, just one point shy of UTEP in ninth (5 pts) and four points shy of Charlotte in eighth (8 pts).
Â
The Panthers come off a scoreless draw at Charlotte on Sunday, as graduate goalkeeper
Maaike van Klink notched her first clean sheet with a career-best 10 saves on 18 shots faced to secure a point in the C-USA standings for FIU.
Â
Having net just three goals through eight league matches, the Panther attack looks to come out with a heightened sense of urgency in Wednesday's match to pick up their first win since Aug. 28.
Â
Nikole Solis continues to lead the team with six goals and will certainly look to spark her magic for the Panthers, while efforts from
Noemi Paquin,
Dominique Marcelli,
Kim Schneider,
Catherine Rapp and
Sydney Amparo will also be critical to FIU's success on Wednesday.
