MIAMI, Fla. - The FIU women's tennis team wrapped up its first day of action at the FIU Invitational on Friday, as the Panthers' day was highlighted by notching two of three doubles wins against USF, in addition to a pair of singles wins against Missouri at the FIU Tennis Courts.
Friday kicked off with doubles action, seeing the Panther square off with the Bulls in two matches, while one FIU tandem faced off with a Missouri duo, as freshmen
Ekaterina Khairutdinova and
Katerina Mandelikova collected a 6-4 win over USF's Ireland Simme and Kiana Mokhtari for their first victory together, followed by
Kristina Miletic and
Kamila Umarova downing USF's Sabrina Ibarra and Margriet Timmermans, 6-2.
Yasmine Kabbaj and
Salma Loudili matched up with Missouri's Andrea Artimedi and Romary Cardenas, coming up short, 4-6.

Kamila Umarova and
Ekaterina Khairutdinova were the lone Panthers to pick up wins over the Tigers in singles action, seeing Umarova drop Mizzou's Laura Masic in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, while Khairutdinova downed Emelie Schwarte in straight sets as well, 6-2, 6-2.
Mandelikova competed hard in a three-set battle, though, falling short to Artimedi, 6-3, 4-6, 0-6, while No. 104 Yasmine Kabbaj slipped to Mizzou's Mae Canete, 4-6, 3-6. Loudili dropped a 4-6, 2-6, matchup to Gabriela Martinez, as Miletic rounded out the Panthers on the day with a 2-6, 3-6 setback to Christine Canete.
UP NEXT
Saturday's slate of action is set to begin with doubles at 9 a.m., followed by singles after. FIU is set to face Mizzou tomorrow morning in doubles, followed by matchups with FAU in singles after.
