MIAMI (Oct. 7, 2022) – Women's Swimming and Diving hosted the first day of the Fall TYR Classic, Friday afternoon, topping the standings at the end of the day with 267 points.
FIU put in a strong performance on the swim side on day one with four event wins and three second place finishes.
The day opened with the Panthers winning the first event. The team of
Gia Pergolini,
Christie Chue,
Kasia Kolodziej and
Lamija Medosevic took the top spot in the 400-Medley Relay with a time of 3:46.96.

Chue would go on to win two individual races. She posted a 57.05 in the 100-Fly and a 1:02.67 in the 100-Breast.

Freshman
Harliai Curthoys-Davies continues to perform well adding another win early in her career. She finished first in the 200-Free with a time 1:51.16.

Delaine Goll and Pergolini also scored crucial points for FIU with second place finishes, in the 400-IM (4:34.15) and 100-Back (58.30), respectively.
Maha Gouda was great on the dive side. She took first in the 1-Meter with a 316.13.

The TYR Fall Classic comes to a close tomorrow, Saturday, October 8. Things get started with 200-Medley Relay at 10 a.m. ET at the FIU Aquatic Center on the Biscayne Bay Campus.

UP NEXT
Swim and Dive will be back in the pool October 28 and 29 when they host Liberty University in a dual meet. Day one of competition will start at 5 p.m. ET and day two will start at 10 a.m. ET, all at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
