FIU Volleyball Set to Host FAU in Regular Season Finale

The Panthers will also Play LA Tech for their Final Road Match

Miami, Fla. -  The FIU women's volleyball team (7-19, 4-8 C-USA) will be wrapping up their 2022 season this weekend with their final game on the road against Louisiana Tech University this Thursday, Nov.10. and their regular season finale at home against Florida Atlantic University on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The Panthers are entering Thursday night's match against LA Tech dropping their last three against the University of North Florida, Charlotte, and Western Kentucky University. FIU is currently in eighth place in the Conference USA standings.

Middle blocker, Athina Dimitriadis, leads the Panthers with 245 kills so far this season averaging 2.53 per set. Playing alongside Dimitriadis is another middle blocker, Alyssa Wissinger who is second on the team with 214 kills.
 
Libero, Katie Turner, continues to hold one of top spots in the conference for her performance throughout the season. She is second in C-USA averaging 4.85 digs per set and leads the Panthers with 470 in total. Setter, Sarah Nading, is pacing FIU with 666 assists this season and is sixth in the whole conference averaging 8.65 assists per set.
 
SCOUTING LA Tech:
The Panthers will be facing the Lady Techsters for the first time this season in a pivotal match for both teams. LA Tech is currently one game behind FIU in the C-USA standings and a win by either team can alter the outcome of their season. LA Tech was picked to finish last in the C-USA preseason poll and is currently in ninth place.
 
The Lady Techsters are led offensively by Andrea Spasojevic with 231 kills so far this season and is averaging 2.54 per set. Their libero, McKenzie Johnson is seventh in the conference averaging 3.89 digs per set and is also seventh in C-USA with 36 service aces.

SCOUTING FAU:
This will be the second time these two teams face off this season as the Panthers took the first round in Boca Raton winning three sets to two. The Owls enter Thursday night's matchup against the Panthers dropping their last five matches in a row. FAU was picked to finish 10th in the C-USA preseason poll and are currently in that same spot.
 
The Owls are headlined by outside hitter Valeria Rosado, and she leads FAU with 301 kills. She is sixth in the conference averaging 3.31 kills/ set and eighth in C-USA with 33 service aces.

Another player on FAU that is having a successful season is Noelle Stephens. She is one of top setters in the conference and she leads the Owls with 815 assists. Stephens is averaging 8.96 assists per set which is fifth best in the conference. Their starting libero, Camryn Vogler, leads the Owls with 272 digs and is averaging 3.62 per set which is ninth in the conference.

UP NEXT
The Conference USA Tournament is coming up from Nov. 18-20 in Bowling Green, Ky. hosted by last year's winners, Western Kentucky University. The Panthers are currently holding on to the eighth and final spot to qualify for the C-USA tournament. If things hold in the standings, the Panthers will play WKU in the first round on Nov. 18.
