FIU Women’s Hoops Falls to George Mason, 72-64, in first day of FIU Holiday Hoops Showdown

The Panthers had Four Players Finish with Double-Digit Points

MIAMI, Fla. – Sophomore guard Tanajah Hayes led the Panthers with 12 points and a season high seven assists as the FIU women's basketball team dropped their Monday afternoon contest against George Mason University, 72-64, at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.

FIU's record drops to 4-5 overall, while George Mason moves to 7-5 on the season and extends their winning streak to four games.

Senior guard Kaliah Henderson had another productive game off the Panthers' bench. She also finished with 12 points and was second on the team corralling 5 rebounds.

Senior guard Olivia Trice got the start for the second straight game and shot 50% from the field (4-8) including two three pointers. FIU shot well as a team from behind the arc making nine three pointers on 21 attempts.

The Patriots finished with three players scoring double digits led by Taylor Jameson who finished with a game high 26 points. Riley Childs was second on George Mason with 15 points. One of the deciding factors in the Patriots' win was their defense on the perimeter. They forced 20 turnovers and scored 19 points off those FIU miscues.
