MIAMI (Dec. 8, 2022) – Senior forward Stephen Afrifa and senior defender Carlos Scheckermann were named to the 2022 United Soccer Coaches NCAA D-I All-East Region teams, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Afrifa was named to the All-East First Team after a career-best season. He netted a team-best 10 goals and assisted on four others for 24 total points, all-career highs.

Scheckermann was named to the All-East Second Team. He was a stalwart for the FIU defense logging 1,493 minutes, the second highest total. He scored a goal, assisted on two others and helped the Panthers secure eight shutouts.

Afrifa and Scheckermann helped the Panthers win The American regular season championship and The American Championship tournament in the program's first season in the conference. FIU also went on a run to the third round of the NCAA Tournament this season.
