MIAMI – The No. 37 FIU women's tennis team cruised to its eighth consecutive dual match win as it posted a 4-0 shutout for the second straight afternoon – this time over Valparaiso University.
The Panthers No. 2 doubles team of
Andreea Velcea and
Kristina Miletic sealed the doubles point with a 6-3 victory after the No. 3 tandem of
Yasmine Kabbaj and
Basak Akbas opened play with a strong 6-1 win.
Kabbaj opened singles action with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Valpo's Olivia Czerwonka in the No. 1 slot and
Ines Bekrar recorded a 6-2, 6-2 ledger in the No. 6 spot. Miletic closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph against Demi Jhaveri at No. 4.
Kabbaj has won each of her last six singles matches and is 8-2 in her last 10 played. She has also teamed up with Bekrar to posts victories in the last four dual clashes.
The win marked the Panthers' eighth straight and moves their overall mark to 10-2 on the season. FIU is also a perfect 5-0 in home matches this season. Valpo slips to 6-8 following the loss.

The Panthers will play their fifth consecutive dual match on their home courts when they host East Tennessee State on Thursday, March 17 in a 12 p.m. start.
