MIAMI – The No. 35 FIU women's tennis team dropped its first dual match in nearly two months with a 4-2 loss vs. Yale on Tuesday afternoon at the FIU Tennis Center.
 
The Panthers opened play strong as they claimed the doubles point in dominating fashion.  Kamila Umarova and Andjela Skrobonja blanked Yale's Chelsea Kung and Jessie Gong 6-0 in the No. 1 match, before Andreea Velcea and Kristina Miletic posted a solid 6-2 victory at No. 2 over Mirabelle Brettkelly and Rhea Shrivasterra.
 
FIU only managed one win in singles action with Umarova putting together a 7-5, 6-0 straight set win over Gong in the No. 2 battle.  Miletic, Velcea and Ines Bekrar each managed to push their matches to three sets before coming up short.
 
The loss marked the Panthers' first since Feb. 5 at Columbia and represented the first time FIU has been defeated at home this season.  Yale moves to 8-6 following the victory.  FIU is now 11-3 overall.

The Panthers will continue their current homestand with their sixth consecutive home match on Sunday, March 27 when they host Houston in a 12 p.m. ET start.
