MIAMI – The No. 40 FIU women's tennis team was back to its winning ways on Sunday with a convincing 4-1 win over Houston – its 10
th win in its last 11 dual matches.
The Panthers opened play by claiming the doubles point following a 6-1 victory by the No. 2 duo of
Andreea Velcea and
Kristina Miletic and a 7-5 win by
Yasmine Kabbaj and
Basak Akbas in the No. 3 slot.
Singles play saw FIU post wins in three of the first four completed matches to seal the overall win. Kabbaj (No. 1),
Kamila Umarova (No. 2) and
Andjela Skrobonja (No. 3) each tabbed straight set wins.
Umarova has now notched wins in her last 12 consecutive singles clashes, while Kabbaj has registered victories in each of her last eight singles tests – all at the No. 1 position. Umarova is a perfect 10-0 playing at No. 2.
The win improves the Panthers' overall mark to 12-3 on the season. Houston drops to 11-8 following the loss.

The Panthers will conclude their current homestand with their eighth consecutive home match on Monday, March 28 when they host Brown in a 12 p.m. ET start.
