MIAMI (April 26, 2022) - Junior Queshun Watson-Riggins and sophomore Rhema Otabor earned Conference USA Field Athlete of the Week honors Tuesday, after notable performances over the course of the weekend at the Virginia Challenge.

Otabor earned the victory at UVA with a javelin throw of 54.94m (180-2), placing her ahead of competitors from Duke, Penn State, and Maryland among other programs. Otabor's throw was the nation's best throw over the past weekend across the NCAA and would rank 10th nationally but she already holds the nation's fourth-best javelin throw of the season (56.25m/184-6) and leads C-USA by over 20 feet.

For Watson-Riggins, the junior had a performance to remember at UVA with a mark of 7.93m (26-0.25) in the long jump that set an FIU school record, won the meet, set a facility and meet record, and was the second-best jump across the NCAA this past weekend. Watson-Riggins currently holds the top long jump mark in C-USA, is sixth in the NCAA East Region and tied for ninth nationally. The junior also competed as part of the 4x100 relay at UVA.

Along with those individual performances, the FIU men also saw a substantial jump in the USTFCCCA national rankings, moving up 83 spots - the fourth biggest leap in the NCAA. FIU's men stand at 89th, while the women come in at 67th this week.
