MIAMI, Fla. – FIU Volleyball senior
Camila De La Rosa competed with the Dominican Republic national team this past weekend at the 2022 Pan American Cup in Hermosillo, Mexico, helping Dominican Republic win the Pan Am Cup gold medal after defeating Colombia in the final, 3-1, on Sunday (Aug. 28) at Sonora Arena.

The title marks the Dominican Republic's fifth Women's Pan American Cup title, having also won in 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2016, after dropping Colombia in four sets, 21-25, 25-13, 25-21, 25-16, for the title.

De La Rosa, a native of Santo Domingo, paced FIU with a team-leading 454 assists through 15 starts at setter during the 2021 season, in addition to recording 109 digs, 34 kills, 27 blocks and 14 service aces.

The senior reunites with the Panthers after contributing to the Dominican Republic's title run at the Pan Am Games over the weekend, as FIU prepares for its second nonconference tournament this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. on Sept. 2-4.

The Panthers will travel to Atlanta, Ga. for a 6 p.m. match versus Arizona State on Friday, Sept. 2 to kick off the GT Invitational. Saturday will feature a matchup between FIU and Dayton at 2 p.m., followed by facing the host Yellowjackets on Sunday, Sept. 4, slated to be broadcast on ACC Network Extra at 2 p.m.
