COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - FIU's
Karissa Kilby (-4) sits in first place through the first round of action at the Coeur d'Alene Invitational, as the sophomore carded a career low round of 67 at the par-71 Coeur d'Alene Golf Resort to lead the 100-player field on Sunday.
The Conference USA Co-Freshman of the Year opened the 2022-23 season on a high note, blazing six birdies to record the tournament low score for the day at 4-under-par - marking the second consecutive year a Panther has led the pack after the first day of action at the Coeur d'Alene Invitational (
Millburn Ho, 2021).
Additionally, Kilby leads the field in par-3 scoring (-2) in addition to holding the most birdies among the field.
The Panthers hung within the top five through the front nine prior to finishing the opening round with a score of 301 for the day (+17) to sit 17th.
A trio of Panthers sit tied for 80th in
Kelly Shanahan,
Millburn Ho and
Arlynn Spence at 7-over-par, while
Riley Hamilton (+9) rounds out the lineup tied for 93rd.
Jenna Chun and
Casey Yu also made their Panther debuts competing as individuals, as Yu (+4) sits tied for 56th while Chun (+5) ranks tied for 64th after 18 holes.
UP NEXT
Second-round action at the Coeur d'Alene Golf Resort will tee off on Monday morning at 11 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. The final round will be held on Tuesday morning, beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET.
