MIAMI, Fla. - The FIU volleyball team prepares for its third consecutive tournament this weekend, as the Panthers travel to play in the Arkansas Invitational hosted in Fayetteville, Ark on Sept. 8-9. The Panthers are slated for another trio of competitive nonconference matches, consisting of a matchup against Arkansas Little Rock and doubleheaders versus Colorado and host Arkansas.Â

The Panthers enter the tournament searching for their first win of the season, having battled hard through a talented nonconference slate that included a top-five matchup their last time out on the court.
Emily Meyer and
Athina Dimitriadis continue to lead FIU, as they both lead the squad in points and kills while holding a pair of all-tournament team honors at the OU Invitational (Dimitriadis) and Georgia Tech Invitational (Meyer).
Meyer has stepped up for the Panthers, currently riding a four-match streak in finishing with double-figure kill totals, while also holding a pair of double-doubles on the season. The junior currently holds a team-high 68 kills on an average of 3.01/s, in aiddition to ranking third on the team with 13.0 blocks. Dimitriadis follows with 56 kills (2.55/s), while leading the team at the net with 24.0 blocks - good for 1.09/s and third among the Conference USA.
Alyssa Wissinger follows the two with solid contributions through six starts, sitting third on the squad in kills (42) and second in blocks (17), while freshman
Madison Morgan has seen her role increase through four starts with 24 kills thus far.
Katie Turner continues to anchor the defense at libero with a team-best 87 digs (3.95/s).Â
Additionally,
Sarah Nading and
Paige Thibault have chipped in, seeing Nading lead the team in assists (107) while Thibault has emerged into the starting lineup over the past two matches currently second on the team in digs (53). Seniot setter
Camila De La Rosa appeared in her first matches of the season this past weekend, recording 86 assists (8.60/s) over three matches at the GT Invitational.Â

The Panthers open with Arkansas Little Rock, who enters Thursday 2-4 on the season, prior to doubleheaders on Friday (Sept. 9) against Colorado (5-0) and host Arkansas (4-1).Â
