MIAMI, Fla. – The Panthers' fourth quarter comeback falls short as the FIU women's basketball team dropped their Wednesday night contest against in-state rival, Florida Atlantic University, 76-66 at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
FIU's record drops to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in Conference USA, while FAU improves to 10-4. The win also snaps a two-game losing streak and gives the Owls the same conference record as the Panthers, 3-2.
Two Panthers finished the game recording double digit points. Redshirt freshman guard
Sifa Joyeuse was FIU's leading scorer with 14 points and 4 rebounds and senior guard
Olivia Trice recorded 12 points and one assist.
Sophomore guard
Tanajah Hayes led the Panthers in three different statistical categories with seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
The Owls finished with four players scoring double digits led by Aniya Hubbard who led all players FAU with 17 points. Joiya Maddox was second with 15 points and led the Owls with nine rebounds.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will play another game this week at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center as they host Western Kentucky University on Saturday, Jan. 14. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
