DALLAS, Texas – A total of seven members of the FIU were recognized with All-Conference USA Team honors, which were announced by league officials on Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers had
Noemi Paquin earn first-team honors,
Reagan Bridges,
Camille Sahirul,
Kim Schneider, and
Nikole Solis took home second-team honors.
Delinda Sehlin and
Ithaisa Vinoly tabbed third-team honors to round out the seven selections, which is the most selections to a All-CUSA in program history, in addition to the second-most selections in the conference.
Paquin becomes the first player since Marie Egan (2015) to be selected to the first-team All-CUSA. The junior had a stellar regular season, logging five goals (ties career-high), four assists (career-high) and 14 points (career-high), starting in 15 games. The Montreal, QC, Canada native leads the conference in shots with 53, averaging 3.53 a game this season. Her best performances this season came in the season opener against Alcorn State on Aug. 18, totaling for a career-high of three assists and a goal in the 6-0 win. She added with her first multi-goal effort of her career in the 3-1 win over UTEP on Sep. 17 in the CUSA opener.
Bridges is named to her first-ever All-CUSA team as the third-year defender has played a significant role on FIU's successful defensive line, having started all 17 games played this season while second on the team with a total of 1,427 minutes played behind 13 90-minute performances on the year. Through just three seasons, the Colorado native has started all 467career games she's appeared in donning the Blue & Gold. Additionally, Bridges has tallied a career-high of two goals this season, including a assist on the campaign.
Sahirul boasts her first selection to the All-Conference as the graduate student has started in all 17 matches played this season, ranked fourth among the squad in points (9) behind three goals and three assists. The North Haven, CT native is having a career-season in 2023 as the graduate student has career-highs in goals and points. Sahirul scored goals in back-to-back conference against UTEP on Sep. 17 and Sam Houston on Sep. 21. In addition, Sahirul logged a assist in FIU's match this past Sunday, Oct. 22 against Louisiana Tech. The third-year Panther has totaled for 1,286 minutes this season on the pitch.
Schneider is named to the second-team as the sophomore has shined on the attacking line, having started in all 17 matches this season, while second in points with 16 and goals with four. Schneider is tied for the team-leader in assists with four assists in her career-best of a season. Her goals, points, and assists are career-highs for the sophomore. Schneider is fourth on the team in minutes played with 1,239 and first on the attacking line. In her past three matches, Schneider has tallied a pair of goals, each against New Mexico State on Oct. 12 and Jacksonville State on Oct. 12. In the opening match of the regular season, Schneider logged her first-ever multi goal game with two goals and a assist against Alcorn State on Aug. 18.
Solis picks up her second consecutive All-CUSA honor after being named to the All-CUSA third team in 2022. The junior led the team offensively this season, logging a career-high in goals (9) and points (21). Her nine goals are the most recorded by a FIU Panther since 2012, and currently tied for first in CUSA as well. The Boca Raton, FL. Native has paced FIU with multi-goal games with two including picking up a pair of goals in the 7-0 win over Nicholls State on Aug. 20, in addition to securing her second career hat trick against Stetson on Aug. 31. She has played in all 17 games while starting in 14 matches. In 42 matches she has played donning the Blue & Gold, Solis has tallied 16 goals in her Panther career.
Vinoly earns her first-ever All-Conference USA team honor, making the third team. In net, Ithaisa started in 15 games, logging 42 saves with a 0.70 goals against average. The graduate student notched six shutouts this season, which is the most for the Canary Islands, Spain native in her Panther career. Her GAA sits second in CUSA and third in the conference in shutouts. In addition, Vinoly has been named the CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season for the weeks of Sep. 12 and Oct. 10.
Sehlin rounds out the selections, being awarded to the third-team honors. The junior has played in all 17 matches this season, while leading the team in minutes (1756), which all are career-highs for the Sundsvall, Sweden native. In addition, Sehlin is part of a backline that has held their opponents to just 16 goals all season, which is the least given amount in a single-season in FIU history.
