DAVIE, Fla - The FIU swimming team dominated in the pool this past Friday and Saturday as the Panthers defeated both Nova Southeastern and Lynn University in a tri-meet with scores of 229-162 and 299-92 respectively. Diving took home first place finishes on both days in their meet against Florida Gulf Coast and Indian River.
On the weekend, FIU racked up 14 first-places finishes including relay races. A total of six different Panthers also claimed first-place in individual events.
Highlighting the two-day tri-meet for FIU was
Christie Chue, as the senior won six different swimming events with a pair of relay wins.. Chue anchored on the 200-yard medley relay and helped FIU win first-place with a time of 28.65. In the 400-yard medley relay, Chue posted times of of 59.38 and 56.74 to lead FIU to victory.
The standout swimmer from Singapore also won individual events in the 200 breaststroke and 200-yard IM with Chue posting times of 2:15.63 and 2:04.24 respectively. In addition, Chue secured wins in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard IM, slotting times of 57.44 and 51.44.
Sophomore
Ingrid Huszar racked up two finishes in first, and three top-three finishes from Davie. Huszar took home first on the 50-yard breaststroke for a time of 29.53, while shining on the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 1:04.11.
Delaney Biro and
Oumy Diop secured wins for individual events as Biro placed for a time of 19.99 in the 50-yard freestyle while the sophomore Diop took home first in the 100-yard butterfly for a time of 55.58.
Nicole Frank also tallied a first place finish for the 400-yard IM, leading the way for a time of 4:31.62.
On the relays, FIU dominated with four first place victories in the relay races. The team of
Diana Santamaria, Diop, Chue, and Shpilko placed first in the 200-yard medley relay for a time of 1:44.44 on Friday. Santamaria, Diop,

Ana Luiza Daisson had a finals time of 3:28.68 in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Another first-place finish came for the 400-yard medley relay that placed a time of 3:50.60 with the team of Sanatmaria, Chue, Diop and Luiza Daisson The Panthers finished off the tri-meet as Shpilko, Santamaria, Diop, and Luiza Daisson brought home first in the 200-yard freestyle relay pacing a time of 1:36.13.
The divers had a strong weekend placing top three on Friday afternoon from Fort Lauderdale against Florida Gulf Coast. Sophomore
Ruska Lehtonen taking first with a score of 233.03, qualifying her for the NCAA Zone Cut on the platforms. Freshman
Kristina Keenan placed second, scoring a 211.20 while
Paige Burrell scored a 187.50 for third place.
On Saturday afternoon at Biscayne Bay, FIU won the three-meter event as Burrell took home first, scoring a 308.25, while notching her NCAA Zone qualifier this season. Lehtonen scored a 237.10 for third place.

The Panthers head to Columbia, Missouri for the Mizzou Invitational for a three-day meet that begins on Wednesday, Nov. 15 to Friday, Nov. 17.
