NEW YORK (February 4, 2023) - The FIU Panthers competed at the historic Armory Track in New York Friday and Saturday at the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Open, putting together a number of impressive performances throughout the weekend.

Sophomore
Michaelle Valentin earned the runner-up spot in the weight throw with a mark of 20.37m, a personal best that places her third all-time in FIU indoor history in the event.
Filippa Miller continued her standout campaign in the pole vault, also finishing in second with a mark of 4.13m, while
Nicole Janse Van Rensburg followed close behind in third, and
Kristin Lubeskie in fifth. The FIU pole vault tandem was recently ranked as the 10th best team in that event by the USTFCCA.
Bessline Verneau competed in the championship section of the shot put, placing fourth with a season best of 13.74m, just outside the FIU all-time top five.
In the 5000, graduate student
Emilie Christiansen ran to a fourth place finish with a time of 17:46 in a field of 19.
"I'm happy with a lot of our performances this weekend," said head coach
Ryan Heberling. "Now we've got two weeks to gear up and get ready for conference."
The Conference USA Championships will be held February 18-19 in Birmingham, Alabama.
