Tyniece Barclay was named a Conference USA Spirit of Service Winter Award Winner, the league announced Thursday.
Barclay, a redshirt junior, has dedicated her time to volunteering at a local elementary school, supporting holiday events and assisting with field day activities, helping create memorable experiences for young students. In addition, her weekly involvement as a "lunch buddy" has allowed her to build meaningful, one-on-one connections, offering encouragement and companionship to children who benefit from positive interaction.
She maintains a 3.92 GPA while pursuing the demanding workload of two majors and two minors, demonstrating exceptional time management and a commitment to academic success.
The award honors student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their sport. The Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season, with Thursday's honorees representing track and field and basketball. Recipients are nominated by their institutions.
