Three Track & Field Athletes Set to Shine on National Stage in Eugene

Cesar & Oskarsdottir to compete Thursday, Bien-Aime in high jump on Saturday

6/9/2026 1:43:00 PM

EUGENE, Ore.– FIU outdoor track & field will send three women to compete on the sport's grandest stage - Amaya Bien-Aime (high jump), Janiya Cesar (hammer throw) and Arndis Oskarsdottir (javelin) will all have action in the Pacific Northwest, and the three athletes are tied for the most in program history. Oskarsdottir will be making her second consecutive trip to Oregon.

Oskarsdottir, who earned the silver in the javelin at CUSA Outdoors, placed sixth at the NCAA East Regional in the event with a throw of 51.59m to clinch her spot in Eugene. Last year, she placed 19th overall in the same event, earning honorable mention all-american honors and will look to improve upon that ranking. Her throw of 54.48m at the Pepsi Florida Relays placed her sixth in the east region and 17th in the NCAA, while her 54.99m mark at regionals last season still stands as the program mark.

Cesar has had a strong campaign and has performed well when it matters most, earning the silver medal at CUSA Outdoors in the hammer throw and outdoing that with a personal-best throw of 62.33m at East Regionals, placing 11th and earning herself a spot on the biggest stage while further improving her hold on third place in the record books. Cesar has competed in the shot put and discus as well, finishing in the top six in both events at CUSA Outdoors.

Bien-Aime made it as far as regionals last year and will compete on Saturday after a stellar fifth-place finish in the high jump at regionals. A personal-best performance of 1.82m, good for second in program history in the event, moved her on to Eugene for the first time, and she finishes the season ranked 25th in the East in the event.

Last season, Oskarsdottir and senior Michaelle Valentin were the Panthers' representatives, with Valentin placing 8th nationally in the women's discus final, earning the fifth all-american honor of her career.
