GAINESVILLE, Fla. — FIU's track and field programs competed at the Florida Relays on Friday and Saturday, a two-day marquee event with several of the top programs in the nation, hosted by the University of Florida.

The Panthers posted several solid performances on the women's and men's sides, especially on the opening day of the event on Friday. Arndis Oskarsdottir returned to action with a meet-winning throw in the javelin. 1500m runners Lorena Bartakovic and Jared Falchook also had standout efforts, posting top-10 times in their events.

Oskarsdottir notched a mark of 54.48 meters on her third throw in the javelin finals, winning the event by nearly three meters over the next competitor. She beat out opponents that placed in the top-10 from Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn, Illinois, Vanderbilt and Penn State.

On the track, Bartakovic finished eighth in the 1500m with a time of 4:35.81, of which ranks sixth-best in program history. The junior placed ahead of opponents from Florida and Florida State in the race.

Falchook highlighted FIU's performances on the men's side with a time of 3:54.11, good for fifth in the men's 1500. His pace ranks seventh-best all-time for FIU and placed him ahead of competitors from USF, Florida State and Miami.
